Meet Tali Lanesman

My passion for Neuropsychology was first inspired when I volunteered at Headway Gauteng, assisting in the cognitive and emotional rehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injury. This led me to complete my MA Neuropsychology at UCT (2014), followed by an internship at Groote Schuur Hospital and Red Cross Children’s Hospital (2015), where I gained experience and insight working in the neurology, neurosurgery, and the psychiatric wards. I soon developed a special interest in dementia and degenerative disorders while working at the GSH Memory Clinic, as well as in pediatric traumatic brain injury as I conducted a cognitive rehabilitation study for my thesis. In 2016, I lectured Neuropsychology at Midrand Graduate Institute, assisted in managing a research study on impulsivity and compulsivity in methamphetamine use disorder, and volunteered co-facilitating the monthly support group for the Huntington’s Association of South Africa.

Wanting to engage more therapeutically with clients beyond assessment, I studied my MA Community Counselling and Clinical Psychology at Stellenbosch University (2017) and completed my internship at 2 Military Hospital (2018) and community service at Khayelitsha District Hospital and community clinics (2019), where I worked in the pediatric, psychiatric, medical, trauma, and maternity wards.

In 2024, after writing an exam and submitting 2 clinical reports for review, I became credentialed as a Full Member of the South African Clinical Neuropsychology Association.

Since entering private practice, I've integrated my neuropsychological and therapeutic skills, offering assessments and therapy to inpatients and outpatients. I also have a private therapy practice in Claremont where I focus on psychotherapy for adults and adolescents, assisting with a range of issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.
